Insurance &

Piccadilly Chambers has extensive expertise in insurance and re-
insurance law and members have been involved in the
London and world-wide market in a wide variety of
areas and disputes including, amongst others, oil and
energy, marine, construction, building and contents
cover, personal accident and legal expenses. Mr
Lawrence Jones and other members have acted for
both insurers and insureds and have been engaged by
Lloyd’s names in large-scale litigation, contract
negotiations, and contractual drafting


Piccadilly Chambers expertise encompasses a wide
range of Commercial and Chancery matters with in
depth experience of commercial fraud, minority
shareholder petitions, breach of directors duties,
corporate insolvency, commercial agency, mergers and
acquisitions, commercial property (including landlord
and tenant), sale and storage and carriage of goods,
and general breach of contract. Piccadilly Chambers has
particular expertise in the field of mutual management.
The area takes in various aspects of company law but the
most common disputes are to be found in shareholder and
boardroom disputes, dismissal of directors, breach of director’s
fiduciary duties and director’s disqualification proceedings.


As well as their expertise in resolving the more
traditional commercial problems, members of
Piccadilly Chambers have been instructed in large scale
defamation litigation relating to corporate libel and
slander, malicious falsehood, and comparative advertising.


Members of Piccadilly Chambers regularly appear in
Asylum and Immigration Tribunals as well as in the
High Court and Court of Appeal in immigration matters
ranging from asylum seekers to commercial visas. Led

The area takes in a variety of situations including challenges to
jurisdiction in cases of cross boarder insolvency but generally
includes the following:

Corporate: Liquidations (voluntary and compulsory); Contentious Company
Voluntary arrangements (“CVAs”); Actions between Company and Creditors
and/or Liquidator; Contentious Administrations; costs

Personal: Challenges to Statutory Demands; bankruptcy proceedings;
contested individual voluntary arrangements (“IVAs”); breaches of Insolvency
Act related to the actions of the bankrupt; Applications between Trustee
and Bankrupt and/or Creditors; costs


This area includes Residential and Commercial
Landlord and Tenant disputes; domestic and
commercial proprietary and constructive trust claims,
tracing actions, actions against mortgage providers and
LPA Receiver; disrepair claims and service charge disputes;
professional negligence against solicitors and surveyors;
Rectification of Land Registry; boundary disputes; actions; Probate claims.


Piccadilly Chambers Family law work concentrates on
Financial Remedy claims upon Divorce and Schedule 1
of the Children Act 1989 and also claims under the Inheritance Act
(Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975.
It also covers private law disputes under the Children Act
and in the Court of Protection. Chambers does not deal with Care matters.
